Overview

We are growing our team and presence in Asia Pacific and see China as a pivotal market for us to land and expand.  We seek an experienced, committed and energetic business leader for our GlobalData China operations to build and execute the market growth strategy.  This is a newly created position and one that we are truly excited about, as it is the first time we'll bring our many industry vertical offerings under one country leader to build and create the future vision for the market.  You'll bring previous experience in building businesses in China and a drive to achieve high results in a business that's consistently exceeding expectations. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a leading role at an expanding global organisation determined to become the world leader in market intelligence. 

What you will do

  • Think big, dream big - we have big expectations for the APAC region and China!
  • Create the vision for the China GlobalData plc business, covering the China region: mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong. Align the China growth plan to the regional APAC 2020+ business plans.
  • Develop in-seat talent across our current business units: Healthcare, Consumer, Technology, Financial and Professional Services.
  • Ensure the business meets current and future commercial sales performance targets. Take action and be decisive, where appropriate, to meet commercial expectations.
  • Initiate well-planned business cases for investments in additional talent and resources, in line with regional P&L.
  • Promote GlobalData plc in the market through frequent PR mentions, Conference participation and speaking engagements.
  • Foster relationships with partner organisations to enhance our branding and promotion.
  • Regularly report on the China business to regional head, CEO and Board and proactively provide updates on performance. Provide regular and productive feedback on our product and content relevance. 
  • Take responsibility and manage all sales forecasts, operations, staffing, talent management and administration for the country, in partnership with other business functions as required. Truly lead the team on the ground in Shanghai and our other offices.
  • Be an ambassador for GlobalData plc's vision and values internally and externally and commit to the growth we seek in the region.

What you will bring to the table

  • A commercially-savvy, business growth mind-set mixed with a strong people management background. We are looking for a business lead with 12+ years of experience, ideally with strong experience leading teams through major growth.
  • Strong knowledge of the China market and what it takes to successfully grow a business.
  • Well-connected and with good foundations in the BI/market research and B2B sales industry. A thorough understanding of the competitive landscape and a view to how GlobalData plc can make our mark.
  • Knowledge of the industry verticals in which we operate, Life Sciences and FMCG background preferred.
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin. Able to flex across a global product and global management team that works in English, and cater to the local market needs. 
  • Commercial skill and acumen. Proven ability to precisely manage and forecast sales pipeline. 
  • A commitment to the business plan you create; take ownership and plan for resource gaps. An eye for identifying risks and innovating to prevent stalls in business growth.  
  • Strong at internal stakeholder management and influence, expert in external C-level audience engagement.
  • Commitment to and excitement in being responsible for what we'll create in one of our key business markets globally.
