  • Overview

    We are seeking a data analyst to join GlobalData within its fast-growing consulting team.  The core focus of the role will be to support the team with data visualisation and the more complex data analysis and modelling tasks that are undertaken.


    The Role


    The consulting team within GlobalData makes use of a number of data sources to address client needs. These data sources will usually involve consumer survey data and GlobalData’s industry data sets, although other data sources can be used as applicable.   


    The consulting team also includes the market research operations function of GlobalData. 

    What you will do

    Working within the consulting team, the data analyst will support and advise on all complex data requests and be involved in, where required, project scoping and methodology discussions on a range of project types.   The projects undertaken by the consulting team will typically fall under the following service offering categories:


    • Forecasting
    • Market and Product Strategy
    • Opportunity Assessment
    • Innovation and Insight
    • Competitive and Company Analysis
    • Marketing Communications
    • Industry, Trade and Export
    • Financial Analysis

    A key element of the role will be linking the data collection to the end data requirements and setting the project up accordingly. The analyst will be required to model datasets based on secondary and primary data using various manipulation techniques.


    A large part of the role will be scripting new and developing existing programmes, using Python, to automate tasks. Advanced analytical techniques such as Bayesian analysis, pricing elasticity, segmentation and cluster analysis will be used to produce cutting-edge products that deliver easy visualisation for clients.

    What you will bring to the table

    Ideal candidates will have element so the below criteria:

    • Educated to degree level in a mathematical discipline
    • Adept knowledge of Python, R or other programming languages
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Highly logical with the ability to understand databases and complex data structures
    • Experience of data analysis of large and complex data structures
    • Experience of data visualisation – how to make complex data simple and easy to understand
    • Demonstrable experience of advanced EXCEL skills (VBA and above)
    • Willingness to learn about new data tools
    • Willingness to learn/knowledge of online market research tools and project management
    • Willingness to learn/ knowledge of statistical techniques and how they can be applied to address client questions
